A special election is being held in Woodruff on June 25, 2013, to elect a new member of City Council. The vacancy is to fill the unexpired term of former councilman Kenneth Gist. Mr. Gist, who represented Ward 4, resigned to become mayor of Woodruff. Two men have filed to run for the vacant seat.

On March 27, Spartanburg resident Oliver Easler filed a fraud report with the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office after his stolen credit card had been used to purchase $2858 of merchandise in area stores. Police are still trying to catch the suspect.
