Libertas Academy Marks Its New Woodruff Campus With a Flag-Raising Ceremony
Students, staff, families and local leaders gathered Oct. 1 at Libertas Academy Woodruff for a flag-raising that served as the new campus's ribbon cutting.
The Woodruff Times, in an October 3 report by publisher Tracy Sanders, says Libertas Academy Woodruff held a flag-raising ceremony on Thursday, Oct. 1, to celebrate its new campus, nearly a year after groundbreaking. The event stood in for a traditional ribbon cutting.
According to the report, School Director Celina Patton thanked teachers and staff, and described a mission that pairs knowledge with character. Speakers included Tony Helton of Tutelage School Solutions, Libertas Academies board chair Keith Coones, and Cameron Runyan, superintendent of the Charter Institute at Erskine, who spoke about school values and a classical education model.
City Manager Lee Bailey and Mayor Kenneth Gist also spoke. The report says Bailey mentioned the neighboring Riverbend Athletic Complex and possible future school visits, outdoor learning and recreation. Teachers raised the flags, and students led the Pledge of Allegiance and the national anthem.
